Gaining weight the healthy way
Elaras team · Updated 19 Oct 2026 · General wellness information, not medical advice
Gaining weight isn't about eating more fried food or sweets. It's about eating enough good food, regularly.
Five helpful habits
- Never skip meals. Three regular meals plus two snacks a day is a good rhythm.
- Protein at every meal. Dal, sundal, curd, milk, paneer or eggs help your body build, not just store.
- Nourishing snacks. Banana with peanuts, a glass of milk, homemade ragi malt, dates and nuts.
- Strength activity. Simple bodyweight exercises or gym training help your weight come from muscle, not just fat.
- Sleep well. Seven to eight hours supports appetite and recovery.
What to avoid
Relying on fried snacks, bakery items and sugary drinks may add weight but not health. If you are underweight without a clear reason, or losing weight unintentionally, please see your doctor first.
