Forget to drink water?

Many people feel tired in the afternoon simply because they haven't had enough water. These habits make it easy to remember.
Five simple habits
- Start with a glass. Drink a glass of water as soon as you wake up, before tea or coffee.
- Keep a bottle in sight. A 1-litre bottle on your desk or kitchen counter is a constant reminder. Aim to finish and refill it.
- Link it to meals. A glass before each meal is easy to remember.
- Drink your fluids. Buttermilk, tender coconut water and clear soups all count, especially in Trichy's heat.
- Watch your urine colour. Pale yellow usually means you're drinking enough; dark yellow is a sign to drink more.
Needs vary with weather, activity and health. Most healthy adults do well with regular sips through the day rather than large amounts at once.
If you have a kidney or heart condition, your doctor may advise a specific fluid limit. Please follow it.
